Vomit carpet stains are among the hardest stains since vomit quickly settles in the fiber leading to leaving difficult stains. These are also among the most common stains as children and adult alike end up vomiting on the carpet under the influence of bad health. Vomit also leaves an odor in the carpet leading to another problem for the owners. It is, therefore, necessary to take quick action in order to remove vomit, vomit carpet stains and the odor so that the carpet can be saved from long-term or permanent damage.

In order to remove the vomit carpet stains, the standard cleaning process may have to be performed. In this case, hot water extraction will be the most suitable method since both stains and odor need to be removed. Dry cleaning can also be performed on the whole carpet after the hot water extraction process has been performed on the affected area. This should be properly dehumidified in the end so that other problems may not appear in the future.

Supplies Needed to Clean Vomit Carpet Stains

There are a few standard supplies that you may need in order to properly clean vomit stains. Some of those supplies are as below:

  1. Cleaner: A cleaning agent may be required in order to perform the cleaning process. It is advisable to use the cleaning agent that does not damage or react to the material of the carpet.
  2. Water: In the hot water extraction process, you will need water in order to create a mixture of the cleaning agent.
  3. Industry grade equipment: Some cleaning equipment may be required in order to perform the hot extraction process. The equipment is used to increase the efficiency of the process.
  4. Towel or soft Cloths: These are used to clean the affected area. They may also be used to dry the carpet.

Vomit Carpet Stains Cleaning Process

Following steps will help in cleaning vomit stains from carpet:

  1. When someone vomits on the carpet, quickly remove it. If proper carpet cleaning is not performed quickly then it will result in strong stains.
  2. Once the carpet has been cleaned off vomit, make an assessment of the stain left by it.
  3. Now, with the help of the industry grade equipment, apply the hot water extraction process.
  4. This will apply the cleaning agent and water to the affected area.
  5. Rub the affected area with the help of a scrubber or a soft cloth depending upon the severity of the stain. Keep on rubbing until the stain has been removed.
  6. Remove the odor from the carpet with the help of a deodorant. Apply the deodorant on the affected area until the odor is no more there. There are a number of suitable deodorants available in the market, like from Arm and Hammer, that can be used for this purpose. Make sure that the deodorant does not react with the material of the carpet.
  7. Now, dehumidify the carpet properly with the help of cloths or dehumidifier.
  8. Now, vacuum it all up to leave everything nice and clean.
